bsdmainutils is a transient package - two of its 4 replacement packages are essential, one is pulled in by man-db, and the last is arguably irrevant: ncal
The last 4 of the above packages were seemingly obsoleted by the removal of rsyslog during image build.
I found the list by explicitly going through all installed packages with aptitude, but probably at least some of them can be automatically dropped with `apt autoremove` (not sure - I mainly use aptitude...).https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/OS-issues/-/issues/196Need gstreamer with h264 hantro support2021-07-08T16:03:25ZGuido GuntherNeed gstreamer with h264 hantro supportneeded for accelerated video playback. There's haptic feedback when the drag reaches the edge of the screen, but no other reaction to the gesture. This reduces the effective size of that target. Changing this to a swipe-down gesture from the edge of the screen would make this a much bigger target, and make it feel more like a tray that gets "pulled out" from the top.
Along the same lines, dragging up from the bottom of the screen should open the overview, rather than having to touch the arrow.https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/OS-issues/-/issues/187"Installing updates" text blurry and pixelated2021-03-01T15:09:09ZJosh Triplett"Installing updates" text blurry and pixelatedWhen rebooting to install updates, the text "Installing updates" on the boot screen looks blurry and pixelated, as though it's being upscaled rather than rendered at the native screen resolution. When rebooting to install updates, the text "Installing updates" on the boot screen looks blurry and pixelated, as though it's being upscaled rather than rendered at the native screen resolution.https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/OS-issues/-/issues/186"Unable to download updates" error with 404 on specific package version2021-02-25T21:27:44ZJosh Triplett"Unable to download updates" error with 404 on specific package versionWhen trying to download updates (by hitting the "download" button on the "updates" tab), I got the following error:

Unable to download updates: E: https://repo.pureos.net/pureos amber-updates/main arm64 tzdata all 2020e-0+deb10u1 is not (yet) available (404 Not Found ...)
I would guess that this happened because the update that the system thought it should do involved packages that aren't available on the server anymore.
Hitting the unlabeled button on the upper left, to trigger a package list update (and then waiting until that finished, which didn't have any kind of progress bar) did not fix the issue; the update changed, but it now wants to download a libzstd1 package that doesn't exist.
Ideally, the software update application would handle this situation, such as by updating the package list (or at least suggesting doing so) if a package isn't available, and by installing as much as possible if a package isn't available.https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/OS-issues/-/issues/185Bluetooth non-functional when wifi not set up2021-02-25T21:08:09ZJosh TriplettBluetooth non-functional when wifi not set upDue to an [unrelated issue](https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/phosh/-/issues/521), I didn't set up wifi right away. I noticed that both Wifi and Bluetooth had what looked like non-connected icons in the menu that opens from the top bar. During initial phone setup, the phone repeatedly became unresponsive to input. It would either lag somewhat before registering a touch, or stop registering touches entirely, or stop updating the screen but keep giving tactile feedback on touches.
Initially, I noticed this on the "enter passcode" screen: it didn't respond to touching the numbers at all: the screen didn't update and the tactile feedback didn't happen. I rebooted a couple of times, and eventually it started responding. After unlocking the screen, as I went through the initial setup, I encountered the same problem trying to type in the wifi password; after a few characters, the screen stopped updating, though the tactile feedback continued.
I'd guess that during initial startup there may be many things running in the background; perhaps that's part of the issue?
This had a rather serious impact both on usability and on first impressions.https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/OS-issues/-/issues/184gsd-wwan crash in gsd 3.38.12021-04-21T14:37:30ZGuido Gunthergsd-wwan crash in gsd 3.38.1I'm seeing this crash on byzantium:

Breaking changes when switching to byzantium. Doesn't matter when reflashing but when one wants to upgrade manually:
- [Drop librem5-evk.dtb and imx8mq-librem5.dtb](https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/linux-next/-/merge_requests/305)
Fix: move `flash-kernel` to another machine type via `FK_MACHINE=...`
- [Use "Librem 5" as sound card name](https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/linux-next/-/merge_requests/223)
Fix: make sure you have recent ucm/pulse config
- Don't hardcode root device via flash-kernel
