    May I know why is the search entry changed here (in else block) twice? To me, I think all that is required here is g_object_set_data (G_OBJECT (selected_item), "selected", GINT_TO_POINTER (FALSE)); or even simpler g_object_steal_data (G_OBJECT (selected_item), "selected"); `
