g_task_return_error: assertion 'error != NULL' failed -- happens when trying to add new matrix account

Getting this when trying to add a new matrix account:

nov 15 09:45:47 pureos chatty[1143]: g_task_return_error: assertion 'error != NULL' failed

When this happens the user interface just shows a spinner, the user is left waiting forever it seems.
