Add support for generic QR codes
Howdy, This bug is to request the addition of support for using qr codes other than just url qr codes.
Currently one can tap on a url based qr code and git the "Open URL" button to launch a broswer and view it. However, for other types of qr codes, one can only "Copy" (which doesn't work, but that's a different issue), but not perform any action based on it.
There are a variety of apps that support the text of qr codes via xdg such as:
- gnome-maps supports the "geo:" tagged codes for finding a location
- gnome-calls support the "tel:" tagged codes for making calls
I'd like to propose allowing megapixels to have a button to send said codes to xdg-open (or equivalent) to open up a more generic support of qr codes. Thus it will not only unlock support for codes that would currently work, but also allow others to create their own qr code types that can be added to xdg via the normal desktop file mechanisms.
Several examples of non url qr codes can be found at this page to test: http://qrcode.meetheed.com/qrcode_examples.php
