User persona: Holiday hacker

This is the user persona corresponding to how I use, or would like to use, my tablet.

Summary: this is what I want to have with me when I'm away for a couple of days or weeks and I don't want to spare the space/weight for my laptop. Conferences, holidays, where I will try to hack something up to demonstrate something cool or just hack out of boredom.

Most important use cases:

  • Lighter and smaller than a laptop
  • WiFi
  • WiFi reliable in conference conditions
  • Update ticket booking in the web browser
  • Show downloaded QR code at the entrance
  • A browser with enough functionality that I can configure it to block JS/domains enough to assuage my tracker concerns and spare battery life
  • Edit code in a text editor
  • Coding: git, Python, gcc, Rust, terminal
  • X forwarding
  • Fresh kernel, where libc is new and applications don't refuse to start
  • Map with GNSS location marked
  • Showing slides for a presentation on the beamer (using an adapter)
  • [?] Over 4h on a battery while coding
  • Taking short notes for emails, names, projects, thoughts

Useful use cases:

  • Search for best WiFi signal using a scanner
  • Sniff/inject raw WiFi packets
  • A local email client
