Consider removing the import and export contacts scripts from Librem5-goodies
gnome-contacts - 43~beta-1pureos2
supports importing and exporting contacts from vcard
files, and that version is now in landing
and should migrate to byzantium
soon, rendering the contacts import and export scripts in Librem5-goodies somewhat redundant.
The only two considerations that give me some pause with the idea of completely removing them are:
- these scripts allow to import contacts via CLI, something that gnome-contacts still cannot do. And some users might want that.
- the import contacts script allows to import contacts (vcard file) via bluetooth, which can useful to import contacts from Android devices, for new users migrating data. I have no idea if
gnome-contacts
do this.
I am open to all options, the ones I see at this moment are:
- Completely removing those scripts from the package
- Leaving those scripts but making them CLI only, in case someone is interested to use them.
- checking if
gnome-contacts
can import contacts via bluetooth to check if that argument is valid or not.
(also while the new gnome-contacts version allows to import contacts in bulk from a file, to export you need to select manually all the contacts you want to export, while the export script exports in bulk to a file)
But of course there can be other options/suggestions I am not seeing at this moment.
