@angus.ainslie is that still a think on the devkit, my battery charges?

It does charge mosttimes. I still see weirdness such as the hw STAT pin showing the device is charging but the driver says it's not or vice versa.

I doubt it. I'll try and test it with a recent kernel.

I have tested devkit charging when submitting mainine stuff recently so if your short on time i don't think you need to retest.
