@guido.gunther Is there a reason why we can't have it in/with the indicator itself?
AFAIK, in GNOME desktop this is possible with GNOME Tweaks.
The current battery indicator only knows a handful of visualizations which makes it hard to know if we have 10% or 30% battery left. Instead you have to unlock the phone, open quick settings and lock the phone again.
+1, but the top bar is quite crowded already, so a percentage number might not be sth that everyone would want. But, e.g. on the lock screen, I would like to have that info, for instance :)
from the technical side it could use similar logic than the wwan widget (which also has the access-tec as 'secondary widget' just that this would be based on the gsetting), basically a design issue so /cc @tobias.bernard
I have seen some visualizations in the past where the battery value was inside the battery icon. This way you don't lose any space.
is there a reference ? (as a side note: having this in a closed bug will likely just make it forgotten even if we come to a conclusion with the design team).
Perhaps a nice compromise between space requirement and detail-richness would be to only start showing the percentage when it goes below a certain threshold, like 30% or so? But I'll defer to the designers.
And as I said, on the lock screen, we might always want to show the percentage, right now I have to unlock to dertermine how urgent I need to find my charger :)
